ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

Wisdom leads to respect and friendship

Kardinia International College is independent, coeducational, and non-denominational, providing a nurturing environment for more than 1900 local and international students from Kindergarten to Year 12.

The main 52-acre campus is in Bell Post Hill, with two additional campuses: Kardinia Grove, our 30-acre Year 5 farm campus in Moorabool and Sum Pun, our six-acre Year 9 campus in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Established in 1996 by the Katsumata Family, Kardinia is a relatively young school that has developed an outstanding reputation in the local and international education communities for providing a unique schooling experience, developing the whole student, based on the living motto of the College, ‘wisdom leads to respect and friendship’.

Kardinia is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, and a member of the Council of International Schools.

The emphasis in every year at Kardinia International College is on academic rigour. We are renowned for the outstanding Year 12 results our students achieve in examinations and NAPLAN results every year. The Junior School follows the IB Primary Years Programme Curriculum, while students in Years 7-10 learn from a vertical curriculum. In Years 11 and 12 students choose to study either VCE or IB.

Life at Kardinia

At Kardinia International College, our vision is to be a symbol of hope for the world. We aim to develop knowledgeable and compassionate globally minded citizens who act as agents of positive and sustainable change. Our mission is to empower our students through an engaging, challenging and student-centred education, as well as develop the skills and attributes that enable and inspire then to actively contribute to a more inclusive, respectful, peaceful, and sustainable world.

We also aim to bring ‘SPICE” to the student experience at Kardinia. Our SPICE model paints the portrait of a Kardinia student, focusing on their social, personal, intercultural, critical and creative thinking, and ethical skills and attributes. The SPICE model describes a Kardinia student as a socially aware and multiliterate learner, a personally responsible and balanced human being, an intercultural global citizen, a critical and creative innovator, and an ethical leader and collaborator.

International Mindedness

One of our aims is educating our students to a profound sense of internationalism where an understanding, acceptance and respect for different cultures, different religions and different ways of life become a hallmark of their character.

We do this in a number of ways.  We have developed a world class internationally minded curriculum, we encourage our students to be global citizens who embrace diversity and we have our own student-led Council for Global Representation (CGR), which aims to lead the College in recognising and further developing our stance as an internationally minded school.

Our key to success

The emphasis at every year level at Kardinia International College is on academic rigour and we are renowned for the outstanding results achieved in the Year 12 examinations each year.

Integral to our success is that we encourage and expect positive student attitudes, understanding and actions towards each other, our community and the wider global environment.
