ABOUT THE SCHOOL

ABOUT THE SCHOOL

THE SCHOOL

Opened in 1959, The Illawarra Grammar School is an independent co-educational Anglican day school located on the eastern coast of New South Wales in the City of Wollongong, approximately 70km south of Sydney.

Illawarra Grammar is a dynamic educational centre that encourages each student to pursue the highest level of academic excellence, personal achievement and fulfilment of which they are capable. We aim to encourage independent thought and serious study, a high level of personal presentation and responsibility, the ability to lead and work with others, and develop individual talents and interests.

We believe that Illawarra Grammar is a happy and positive place with a strong commitment to high standards, hard work, an adventurous spirit and a thoughtful concern for others. Our School employs highly qualified, university trained teachers, integrates the latest technology extensively throughout the curriculum and has well-resourced classrooms and laboratories.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT PROGRAM

The Illawarra Grammar School welcomes applications from students living in other countries who wish to study in Australia.

Our School has consistently maintained a fine reputation as a leading choice for both local and international parents in their desire to provide the best education for their child.

An Illawarra Grammar world class education focuses on academic excellence and incorporates a multi-faceted cultural approach in which the visual and performing arts, languages (both European and Asian), and technology are vital components.

Graduates from Illawarra Grammar have great success in gaining entry to university and tertiary courses every year.

International students at Illawarra Grammar are encouraged to become part of a vibrant student body and gain access to and understanding of Australia, its culture and people, whilst living in a friendly, caring homestay environment.

One of the strengths of the School is the care provided for each student as an individual. Every effort is made to ensure that international students become a part of the school community and mix with Australian students from their first day.

Adjusting to life in Australia can be challenging for some, so we work closely with our students to ensure their transition and time spent with us is as positive and rewarding as possible.

We ensure a safe and enjoyable school environment by carefully supervising the welfare of our students. Every staff member is trained and committed to maximising every student’s personal growth, encouraging them to make an ongoing positive contribution to the School and the wider community.

The School has an inclusive enrolment policy and welcomes students from all faiths and denominations.
