Secondary Years 7-12

Whilst many of our international students commence in the Senior Years, MGGS is registered to enrol International students from Year 5 onwards.

Most students in Victoria complete the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE). The VCE spans Years 11 and 12.  Due to the nature of the program and the need to be a competent user of English for all study areas,  we recommend students commence studies in Year 9 or 10. Students who commence at this stage benefit from their experience with the Australian method of teaching, acquire new friends and learn how to optimise their time at MGGS. They are also able to enjoy exposure to an extensive range of subjects prior to narrowing their choices for the VCE years.

A diverse range of subjects (referred to as Studies) are offered at the VCE level including, but not limited to: English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, the Arts and Modern Languages.  For more detail about subject choices and electives, contact the Enrolments Team ([email protected]).

We encourage all students to consider their interests and strengths when selecting subjects. Each student is encouraged to meet with key staff to ensure their subject selections match their career aspirations as well as their ability levels.

MGGS provides many co-curricular activities. Our most successful Grammarians are those who participate in a range of activities. Some of those available are:

  • Art programs and clubs
  • Drama productions – text-based and musicals
  • Community outreach events
  • House and team-based opportunities
  • Music performance  - choirs, music ensembles, orchestras and bands
  • Sport – individual or team  including badminton, hockey, tennis, soccer, martial arts, table tennis, volleyball, athletics, snowsports, rowing, and swimming.

Our focus is to develop an entrepreneurial mindset in our students. This means that we craft learning and co-curricular experiences to encourage our Grammarians to be creative, resourceful, adaptable, team oriented, and independent.
