Melbourne Girls Grammar has a 130 year history.  Since its opening in 1983 by Emily Hensley and Alice Taylor, the School has gone from strength to strength.  It has continued to be a place where families have sent their girls for a well-rounded education — it is an educational community characterised by academic rigour, a commitment to the values and ethos of its community, and from which girls graduate and progress to fine careers in a range of diverse areas.

Nestled atop the Anderson Street hill in one of Melbourne’s most prestigious suburbs, the School has all the amenities it needs either contained within its iconic red brick walls, or minutes away.  This includes Melbourne’s finest galleries, museums and theatres, world renowned sports complexes including the Australian Tennis centre — home to the Australian Open —  and the beautiful plantings and ornamental lake of the Royal Botanic Gardens and the mighty Yarra River.

The CBD is walking distance, as are boutiques, restaurants and cafes as well as bike paths and recreational parks and only slightly further away Half Moon Bay and some of our glorious beaches. Melbourne Girls Grammar is characterised by historic mansions and modern teaching facilities designed with learning and the needs of the learning at heart. The Artemis Centre, (seen above) networked classrooms and technology enhanced equipment and platforms ensure that each student is able to thrive in their study. Flexible learning spaces and special interest hubs such as the library and art studios allow our girls to explore, be challenged and grow to their full potential.
