SCHOOL FACILITIES

SCHOOL FACILITIES

College facilities include: a Science Centre, with 8 fully equipped laboratories; the Performing Arts Theatre; 3 large ovals; several other large grassed areas; 8 tennis/netball courts; a multi-purpose synthetic playing surface; Chapel; Music department with sound recording studio, editing suite and individual music tuition rooms; Dance studios; Design and Technology Center, Visual Arts Centre, Library and the Purruna Spencer Newton Centre; Scotch’s new $27million Wellbeing and Sports facility, which symbolises and enhances what makes Scotch College one of the most effective and high achieving schools in South Australia, if not the nation as a whole. Its facilities include two new indoor courts, fitness suites and a swimming centre, classroom spaces, consultation rooms and breakout areas which enhance our wellbeing offer for all year groups. Purruna Spencer Newton Centre, has been built on the principle of surpassing ‘sustainable design’ in favour of ‘regenerative design’ thinking. The centre is a role model in its community for redefining the future of the built environment and a testament to Scotch’s commitment to making the future a better place.

The College also has 3 wonderful outdoor classrooms that provide a rich and varied learning experience for all the children: the Ag Farm on the Torrens Park Campus, Kyre Campus on Kangaroo Island and Goose Island in the Spencer Gulf. Within the 20 hectares of the College lies a fully functioning agricultural farm, complete with cattle, alpacas, chickens and sheep. An established vineyard, orchard, stable and shearing shed complement the livestock enterprises. Goose Island is a unique place for Year 10 students, with each class spending five days on the island. The Goose Island Conservation Park lies to the north of Wardang Island in Spencer Gulf, 13 kilometres from Port Victoria. Our environmental field station Kyre Campus on Kangaroo Island, follows the lead of our tried and true outdoor education success that is Goose Island. With a sustainability focus, the campus is set up so students experience the wonder that is the pristine environment at Kyre Campus on the high rainfall north coast of Kangaroo Island near Snug Cove. The Campus is used for Year 8 camps as well as for Year 11 environmental science studies, and there are plans to incorporate it into studies in other year levels in the future.

There are also two offsite rowing facilities at West Lakes and on the River Torrens.
